Just some quick and rough sketches that I had a lot of fun with the other day :3



The above image is a lady named Astarel, and it's a re-design of this older image.




This last image is a character of mine called Saga- she's completely crazy and thinks that she is the daughter of the Norse Gods. She's fun to draw :D
May as well throw in a portrait of her that I did a couple of months ago-



I learnt so much from doing that portrait, and I really think that I would not be able to do my art work as affectively or as quickly if I hadn't done this piece. The biggest thing I learnt was how to blend colours much more effectively, and also how to do hair. As a result, I absolutely love painting hair now :D

A family portrait

Sort of.... This is something that I'm working on in between uni work and commissions, mainly to keep myself sane by drawing something for myself because I want to, rather than have to. It's also a practice piece as I haven't had the chance to paint feathers or fur in far too long, and also to get myself into the habbit of drawing different poses.



So these are all my characters, which I have neglected for far too long. I haven't drawn some of them in over 4 years.
From left to right- the fluffy blue thing is Blue, the gryffyn above him is Traelavor (Trevor), the sandy coloured critter with the skull for a face is Nout, next to him his Sphinx, and the dragon is Ra'd. There's another one, maybe two characters left to be fitted in there somewhere.

And thought I'd throw this in too- anatomy practice I guess. I was going to do more with it, but I've lost the motivation with everything else that I need to get done.

A tutorial?!

I was asked to do a tutorial on how I do fur, feathers and scales, and so here it is. There are other, and much better ways of doing things, but this is just generally how I go about doing things.



So yarrr.... not much else to say really, been trying to juggle uni work, commissions and trades all at once. I have one other update and thats about it.
Hoping to write up about Bradford Animation Festivle, Blitz Open day and Creative Futures week in the next few entries.



One more update for today, trying to get used to this characters colours. Well, more like blending them together so there aren't any ugly streaks. Getting there, slowly but surely.

And just a sketch of my character Traelavor, don't know if I'll go any further with it, but it was fun... hope so, maybe when I have free time.

Yup....

Right, seeing as my other blog is for current uni work only, I thought I'd post everything else I'm doing here.
So this is where I'll dump all of my WIP's, finished works not relating to uni, and also write up about my experiences such as the Blitz open day I attended and also Creative Futures week...thingeh....thing.

So yeah...some WIP's? Here we go:



The above is a entry I'm working on for a competition over on DA. She's a dragon lady....not sure on her colouring yet, but I want her to be quite earthy and natural looking. The competition theme is that it has to include green. And so green it shall have! I think the shading so far is too dark on her face, but I'll fix that as I go along.



This is my half of trade that I'm working on (too slowly might I add >.<) for a friend also over on DA. It's her character Story, and although I love her colouring, I am having problems with blending all the different hues together XD But thats just cause I suck >.< XD



And finally another piece also for someone on DA. I need to finish colouring this as it shouldn't take very long.

In other words, need to get my arse into gear.
